1 teaspoon cumin seeds 2 slit green chillies 2 teaspoons salt 1 turmeric powder 1 red chilli powder 1 tablespoon cumin coriander seed powder 1 tablespoon chopped ginger 1 cup chopped tomatoes1 cup chopped cabbage 1 cup chopped cilantro
Process : First in a pressure cooker add oil and put it on medium heat. Add the mustard seeds, once they splutter then add the cumin seeds and then ginger. Saute it for few seconds, then add few curry leaves.
Add ½ cup of chopped tomatoes and then add chillies , saute for another few seconds. Add chopped cabbage, turmeric powder, chilli powder, cumin coriander seed powder. Mix everything well and then add washed barley. Add salt and nearly 2- ½ cups of water, add remaining tomatoes and allow the barley to cook for around 2-3 whistles.
Let the pressure cooker cool down and then place the khichdi on a serving plate nice and hot. Garnish with chopped cilantro and the khichdi is ready to serve.
